This video shows you how to install the Sketch Manager software on a Mac. Sketch Manager is a simple software that comes with your Inkling and is designed to help you prepare your files for distribution or further development in other creative software applications, like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or Autodesk Sketchbook Designer.

Inkling books for iPad, iPhone, and the Web include interactive features. Test yourself, share notes, highlight, annotate, watch video, search the text, and more.

Wacom tablets are a gift to the creative world: they are in-demand graphics tablets or pen tablets, generally used in the graphic design industry or by digital artists to draw by hand or capture images or graphics in digital form. The information is displayed on the monitor of a connected Mac or personal computer.

Using the Inkling — Transferring data to a Mac afterwards is pleasingly easy. (In case it’s not clear, the Inkling does not need to be attached to your Mac while you’re writing.) The Inkling comes with a 25-cm (10-inch) micro-USB cord, which also charges the device while data is copied to the Inkling’s Sketch Manager software. Inkling Sketch Manager, Free Download by Wacom Co., Ltd. Transform your digital photos into pencil sketches in just a few steps.

These tablets are made up of so many different models and essentially designed to allow someone to digitally doodle straight into the computer, among many tasks. They allow hand-drawn work to be digitized, with a few advantages over click-and-point navigation. The pen, for one, has a pressure-sensitive system to determine things like a line’s thickness or to efficiently capture handwritten notations.

Some Wacom tablet users, however, have encountered issues since updating to macOS High Sierra. Released back in September 2017, macOS 10.13 High Sierra caused problems with Wacom users who upgraded to it and eventually noticed that their tablets wouldn’t work.

In February this year, Wacom rolled out a software update that covered most of its newer-generation tablets, asserting that it has fixed issues and added improvements. The driver release, for instance, supports the Wacom Intuos pen tablet, accommodating new functions and making the device registration process easier. Learn more about this update here.

A couple of issues involving Wacom tablets and Sierra still exist, with complaints such as difficulty clicking on the device. In online forums, a couple of users using Wacom Bamboo CTH-470 find that the touch capability isn’t working across High Sierra as well as Mojave.

Some users have tried uninstalling potentially problematic drivers, reinstalling the Wacom drivers, and trying their luck with past versions, yet nothing much worked.

These issues could mean a thousand different things, but there’s no harm in ensuring that you’re installing the correct Wacom driver in your system. Follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that your tablet is disconnected from the computer.
  2. From the desktop, go to Go > Applications. There, look for the Wacom folder listed and open Wacom Tablet Utility. Click on the Remove
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Download and install the latest driver here.
  5. Restart your computer again.
  6. Once the system is fully loaded once again, connect the tablet to your computer and see if everything’s working fine by now.

For the CTH-470 touch capability glitch, several users found success in reinstalling the last driver for the tablet and following these steps:

  1. Go to Systems Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility.
  2. Add Consumer Pen Driver, Pen Tablet Driver, Wacom Utility (choose from Apps folder > Wacom).
  3. Afterwards, proceed to Applications > Wacom Tablet > Welcome Desktop Center > Backup Settings. Choose Reset Settings.
  4. See if things are working well on your end now.

When faced with the double clicking issue, try these steps:

  1. Go to Systems Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse/Trackpad.
  2. Set Double Click Speed slider to Fast.
  3. Check if changing this accessibility setting works.

These issues highlight the importance of regularly updating drivers and keeping your computer clean and optimized for top performance. Use tools like Tweakbit Mac Repair to scan your machine for all types of junk and clear valuable space by eliminating unnecessary apps and other space hogs.

We hope your Wacom-High Sierra issues get resolved with these simple techniques, and that those creative juices flow uninterrupted once again with your working tablet. Good luck and let us know which fixes actually made a difference for you!

If you’re running into errors and your system is suspiciously slow, your computer needs some maintenance work. Tips&Tricks

Who is Inkling for?

Inkling is for artists, illustrators and designers who sketch their first rough ideas on paper, then wish to quickly and easily convert their sketches to an editable digital format.

What types of sketches work best with Inkling?

Inkling works best for sketches that are used at the beginning of the creative process, such as rough concept illustrations and storyboards.
For precise results such as those needed for final artwork and sketches that require very straight lines and perfect geometric figures, we recommend to start directly with a Wacom Intuos4 pen tablet or Cintiq Interactive Pen Display.

How accurate are the sketches?

In general, sketches with Inkling will be accurate to within ± 2.5 mm in the main drawing area of an A4 page, and within ± 5.0 mm at the edges of the page.

What are the drawing sizes that Inkling supports?

The maximum size area that Inkling can record is A4 (210 x 297 mm, 8.27' x 11.69'). Inkling can be attached to a larger sized paper, but it will only record a portion of the drawing that fits within this recording area. Inkling also does not record any part of a drawing that is within 2 cm of the receiver.

What are the factors that affect the accuracy?

Inkling uses both ultrasonic and infrared technologies that require proper conditions to operate well. The main factors that can affect the accuracy of Inkling are the line of sight between the pen sensors (located in the pen tip area starting just below the widest point of the pen) and the receiver, the stroke speed, direct sunlight on the receiver, the position of the receiver, ultrasonic noise, and other 'white' noise at certain frequencies. Make sure that the Inkling receiver is properly attached to the paper sheet or notebook. For best results, insert more than one piece of paper into the receiver clip to prevent accidental movement of the receiver. Please refer to the tips section for more detailed information.

Can Inkling replace scanning in my workflow?

This depends. Inkling can replace scanning in your workflow in certain scenarios – when rough sketches are used at the beginning of a workflow and will be edited, for example.

Can I use a template to draw lines and shapes?

Using templates, rulers and straightedges can interfere with the signal between the pen sensor and the receiver. Using templates, rulers and straightedges is not recommended with Inkling.

Can I use Inkling outside?

Direct sunlight on the receiver interferes with the IR signal. For best results when using Inkling outside, shield the receiver from direct sunlight.

What kind of ink refills does Inkling use?

Wacom Software Download For Mac

Inkling uses standard mini ballpoint refills with a 1.0 mm ball size.

What colors of ink are available?

Wacom sells refills only in black, but other ink colors are commonly available from stores that carry ballpoint refills.

Can I sketch in pencil with Inkling?

No, Inkling only supports ink cartridges.

Does Inkling work with my PowerPC Mac?

No, Inkling only works with Intel-based Macintosh and Windows operating systems. Please refer to the system requirements for more details.

What file formats can I save as?

Inkling can save as .JPG, .BMP, .TIFF, .PNG, .SVG and .PDF files.

What applications can I export to with layers?

Inkling can export with layers directly to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (CS3+), as well as Autodesk SketchBook Pro and SketchBook Designer (2011+).

What is the resolution of Inkling sketches?

The resolution of the sketches is 600 dpi.

What technologies does Inkling use?

Inkling uses ultrasonic and infrared technologies.

Please tell me about Inkling′s support of layers

You can create layers with Inkling both during the sketching process and within the Sketch Manager application. While sketching, press the New Layer button on top of the receiver to create a new layer. The layers will be preserved when you export to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as Autodesk SketchBook Pro and SketchBook Designer. In addition, a stroke sequence in an existing layer can be selected and separated into a new layer within Sketch Manager.

How do I charge the pen and receiver?

The pen and receiver can be charged simultaneously by inserting them in their respective positions in the charging case, then connecting the case to a computer via USB. The receiver can be charged separately by connecting it directly to a computer′s USB port.

How long does it take to charge Inkling and what is the work time?

Inkling will fully charge within 3 hours, yielding a typical work time of up to 15 hours for the pen and up to 8 hours for the receiver.

Where can I buy Inkling?

What do I do if my pen / receiver / charging case is defective?

If your Inkling pen / receiver / charging case is defective, please contact your local Wacom service center.

How do I know if my Inkling is performing within the specifications?

Inkling is warranted to be accurate to within ± 2.5 mm towards the center of the page and ± 5.0 mm at the edges. If your Inkling is not performing to this specification, please check the Tips section for tips to get the best results. If your Inkling is still not performing with the specifications, please contact Wacom service center in your area.

Line of sight

Ensure that the line of sight between the pen sensor and receiver is unobstructed.

Stroke speed

Pen stroke speeds over 730mm/sec will lead to dropped data. As reference, the maximum stroke speed when drawing or signing is approximately 800 mm/sec.

Pen grip

Ensure that the pen sensor area is unobstructed. Even placing your finger on the back of the sensor can adversely affect performance.

Outdoor use

Intuos Wacom Tablet Software Download

Direct sunlight on the receiver can affect the IR performance. If you sketch outdoors, it is recommended that you shield the receiver from sunlight.

Drawing boundary areas

The pen detection area starts 2 cm below the receiver. When the pen is within 2 cm of the receiver the signal will not be detected. Paper sizes up to A4 (210 x 297 mm, 8.27' x 11.69') are supported.

Receiver position

The receiver can be placed on the top, bottom, right side or left side of the page. The best position will allow you to draw freely without your hand obstructing the line of sight between the pen and receiver. Make sure that your receiver does not shift its position when sketching. When you choose your receiver position, be sure to select the paper orientation and receiver position in the Sketch Manager settings when transferring the data to your computer.

Sketching surface

Wacom Driver For Mac

Inkling performs best when sketching on a flat, rigid surface such as a desk, table or sketchbook. Poor results may occur if the Inkling receiver is located on uneven drawing surfaces where the receiver is not on a flat, level plane with the drawing.

Pen sleep mode

To save battery power, the pen will automatically enter sleep mode after 30 seconds of inactivity. Give the pen tip a firm tap to wake itup. The green LED on the top of the pen will switch on when the pen is awake. When both the pen and receiver LEDs are green, the signal is being transmitted.

Environmental factors

Ultrasonic signals, such as those found in some lighting control systems, may adversely affect performance.

White noise

Inkling works in frequencies between 25-78KHz. Certain metal-on-metal sounds and very loud paper scratching noises in these frequencies can cause poor performance.
